An annual attraction of Upper West Siders and those beyond, the Macy’s Parade Balloon Inflation is a fun if not a bit chaotic event. Here are a few suggestions to make the experience better:
This season marks Ballet Hispanico’s 45th anniversary of sharing and reflecting the diversity of Latino cultures through dance. Last week’s unveiling event highlighted the recent renovation of Ballet Hispanico’s longtime home with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. Gale A. Brewer, Manhattan Borough President, City of New York (see pic) was on hand for the celebrations.
In my humble opinion, fall is the best season in New York City.
Fashion is more fun, temperatures are more comfortable and the parks look spectacular. Central Park’s trees are unfurling their most dazzling colors, painting the canopy with gorgeous golds, reds, oranges, and yellows. It’s NY’ers urban oasis — available to any of us whenever we find ourselves in need of a break from the hustle and bustle of New York. This short video is from this morning’s drive. Enjoy!
Now in its fifth year, Communal Spaces: a garden play festival will premiere eight new short plays inspired by and performed in four community gardens in Manhattan and Brooklyn September 12 & 13, 19 & 20, 26 & 27.
Communal Spaces is an annual festival that commissions playwrights to write new plays inspired by specific community gardens around the city. Audience members may attend one play or several, traveling across the city or around the borough to each garden. Communal Spaces is produced by The Motor Company, Artistic Director Lillian Meredith.

It was a fun atmosphere, complimented by Joe Battaglia and his big band sound. I left full, with a list of dining experiences I’ll try this summer. Thanks to all at the event who made it a success!
